Promise(s):
With £ 10 - we promise to lay 3 mile of piping to carry water to the village

Bring Water from the Source to Moruongor Village

Help build the pipeline that will carry reliable water from the borehole to the heart of the community.

Finding water is only the first step. We also need to get that water safely to the 2,380 people who need it.

Moruongor Village in Turkana, Kenya currently has no reliable local supply of clean water. The community's main water source is the seasonal Kapua River, approximately 10 kilometres away. The water is not clean and is not easily accessible to the whole community.

The proposed borehole will be positioned near the river, where geological conditions make groundwater more likely to be found. However, the village itself is approximately 3 kilometres from the proposed borehole location.

A pipeline is therefore essential. It will carry water from the borehole to the storage facilities and water kiosk in the centre of Moruongor, placing water where people actually live, learn, receive healthcare and care for their animals.

10 km Current distance to seasonal river water

Why this pipeline matters

Without the pipeline, even a successful borehole would leave water several kilometres from the people it is intended to serve. Moving the water into the village transforms a water source into a practical community water system.

  • Brings water directly into the centre of the village.
  • Reduces dependence on the distant seasonal river.
  • Provides access for families, children and older residents.
  • Supports drinking, washing and sanitation.
  • Provides water for livestock.
  • Supports small-scale food production and vegetable growing.
  • Makes water accessible to the primary school and dispensary, both approximately 500 metres from the proposed village tank.

A vital link in the complete water system

This campaign funds one of the essential connections within the wider Moruongor Water Project: getting water from its source to the community.

The pipeline will work alongside the borehole, solar-powered pump, storage tanks, purification facilities, water kiosk and local distribution network to create a sustainable water supply.

What your support makes possible

Your contribution helps turn groundwater beneath the Turkana landscape into water that can reach families every day. A source of water has little value if people cannot reach it. This pipeline closes that gap.
