MORUONGOR WATER PROJECT - Water pipes to Moruongor Village
Bring Water from the Source to Moruongor Village Help build the pipeline that will carry reliable water from the borehole to the heart of the community. Finding water is only the first step. We also need to get that water safely to the 2,380 people who need it. Moruongor Village in Turkana, Kenya currently has no reliable local supply of clean water. The community's main water source is the seasonal Kapua River, approximately 10 kilometres away. The water is not clean and is not easily accessible to the whole community. The proposed borehole will be positioned near the river, where geological conditions make groundwater more likely to be found. However, the village itself is approximately 3 kilometres from the proposed borehole location. A pipeline is therefore essential. It will carry water from the borehole to the storage facilities and water kiosk in the centre of Moruongor, placing water where people actually live, learn, receive healthcare and care for their animals. 2,380 Village residents 3 km Pipeline from borehole to village 10 km Current distance to seasonal river water Why this pipeline matters Without the pipeline, even a successful borehole would leave water several kilometres from the people it is intended to serve. Moving the water into the village transforms a water source into a practical community water system. Brings water directly into the centre of the village. Reduces dependence on the distant seasonal river. Provides access for families, children and older residents. Supports drinking, washing and sanitation. Provides water for livestock. Supports small-scale food production and vegetable growing. Makes water accessible to the primary school and dispensary, both approximately 500 metres from the proposed village tank. A vital link in the complete water system This campaign funds one of the essential connections within the wider Moruongor Water Project: getting water from its source to the community. The pipeline will work alongside the borehole, solar-powered pump, storage tanks, purification facilities, water kiosk and local distribution network to create a sustainable water supply. What your support makes possible Your contribution helps turn groundwater beneath the Turkana landscape into water that can reach families every day. A source of water has little value if people cannot reach it. This pipeline closes that gap.

TURKANA CHILDREN LITERACY PROJECT: BUILDING A COMMUNITY LIBRARY & LEARNING CENTER FOR 100 CHILDREN IN TURKANA, KENYA
In Turkana County, Kenya, many children walk long distances to school and return to homes with no books. When schools close on weekends and holidays, learning stops completely.  With very few reading materials and no safe study space, literacy levels remain low and many children fall behind.   The Turkana Children Literacy Project aims to change that by creating a permanent place where children can read, learn, and grow.   Campaign Objectives 1. Build a safe, weather-proof library structure with solar lighting 2. Stock the library with 180 age-appropriate books: storybooks and textbooks 3. Equip the space with 3 bookshelves, 5 tables, and 20 chairs 4. Run weekly Reading Clubs, Story Time, and mentorship with a volunteer librarian 5. Track progress through monthly attendance and book borrowing records   Target Beneficiaries Direct: 100 children ages 6-14 in Turkana, Kenya   Indirect: Teachers, parents, and siblings who will access books and story sessions   Project Activities Phase 1: Construction- Build library structure: iron sheet roof, mud/brick walls, cement floor, door, 2 windows, solar lamp Phase 2: Setup- Purchase and install books, shelves, tables, chairs Phase 3: Programs- Launch Reading Club, weekly story time, homework support Phase 4: Monitoring* - Track attendance, books read, and literacy progress monthly   Budget Summary - EUR Total Project Cost: €4,800 1.    Building Structure: €2,400 2.    Books + Furniture: €1,200   3.    Solar Light + Setup: €300 4.    12-Month Programs + Volunteer Support: €600 5.    Monitoring & Reporting: €300   Sustainability The library building will serve the community for 10 years.  A volunteer librarian from the community will manage daily operations.  Parents and teachers will be involved in book care and reading sessions to ensure the library stays active beyond year 1.   We will share: construction photos, monthly reports, book borrowing logs, and a final impact report on Aurora.   Conclusion `In Turkana, a book is rare. A library is life-changing.`
